A consultation on Scottish Health Innovations Ltd’s (SHIL) progressive five-year strategy was launched today, seeking input on its ambitions to sit at the heart of a collaborative, entrepreneurial Scotland.

The strategic plan will be revealed in the coming months, highlighting the organisation’s directional aspirations up to 2026, including key themes, an expansive vision, and a renewed mission statement.

The draft strategy “leverages and extends the vast experience SHIL has gained since 2002 in inspiring, accelerating and commercialising impactful healthcare innovations.”

It is “focused primarily on helping shape the meaningful transformation of a highly adaptive NHS, while recognising the strong partnerships forged with many academic institutions, funders, entrepreneurs and industrial partners.”

Initial consultation with key stakeholders has already taken place. However, the organisation remains keen to amplify the scope of the strategy around the views of those who will chiefly help to realise and inform its aims. SHIL is therefore asking for further consultation feedback to be sent to [email protected].

Specific areas to consider in your response include:

  • How would you describe the strategy?
  • Does it provide clarity on what SHIL does?
  • Do you agree with the overall vision, mission and strategic themes?
  • Does it reflect what you want to see from the organisation going forward?
  • Is there anything you would like to see added to the strategy?

The consultation will run for 10 days and the deadline for responses is 19 February.

“The draft strategy sets out our vision and mission within a busy, ever-changing sector. With almost two decades of experience within health innovation, SHIL has laid the foundations for sustainable growth, efficiency, and meaningful transformation, underpinned by a highly motivated team.
“I’m extremely proud of the work we have done since 2002, in particular during the current pandemic. We must continue to forge a path that is informed by the challenges of COVID-19 but also looks beyond them too.
“At this juncture, it is important that our strategy anticipates and meets the needs of the future.
“To that end, our strategy must be fit for purpose both now and throughout the next five years, providing us with a platform to capitalise on opportunities as they arise.
“It is therefore vital that those who will collaborate, support and help to action our strategy have an opportunity to feed into and shape it. I would urge everyone to take part in our consultation and submit their comments, suggestions, or feedback.”
