The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) will be taking its transformative teachings to Glasgow this autumn, supporting a new generation of Scotland-based innovators to turn ideas into tangible patient benefits

Award-winning CEP is delivering a ‘pit stop’ — an immersive, CPD-accredited two-day educational event — at Glasgow’s Clayton Hotel on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November

Free sessions across the two days will focus on core topics including starting up, leadership, teams, legal/intellectual property (IP), finance, and commercialisation, with highlights including expert ‘Founder Stories’ which feature healthcare professionals who successfully launched startups

On Friday 13, a session will be delivered by Judy Oliver, CEP mentor and Managing Director of Oliver and Company, with more contributors expected to be announced in the coming weeks, along with details of how to get involved.

InnoScot Health is part of a collaborative group of organisations supporting Scottish participation in CEP and believes the programme’s tailored learnings and readymade network of collaborators are vital catalysts for ambitious NHS staff who are keen to make their entrepreneurial mark.

InnoScot Health’s Head of Innovation Commercialisation, Gillian Henderson said: “We are really looking forward to contributing our knowledge to the Glasgow pit stop which will take place a week before the application window for the next cohort closes.

“It is therefore an opportunity to inspire and encourage Scotland’s prospective applicants as well as those who have already signed up and are keen to meet their mentors and peers.

“CEP has a strong track record of moulding Scotland-based healthcare innovators through its learning programme, representing a crucial step towards a more self-sustaining health service that is empowered to innovate from within.

“We are in no doubt that the next cohort will extend the legacy of success which has made it the largest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind thanks to expert mentoring, tailored education, and access to a powerful network of healthcare leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors.”

For those who want to know more about the process of applying to join Cohort 11 of the programme this year, CEP Prep Application Sessions will be commencing online via Zoom this week.

Session one, ‘Introducing the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme’, will take place on Monday 14 September from 6-7.30pm.

Subsequent prep sessions will take place from 5-6.30pm and can also be registered for:

• Thursday 24 September — ‘Get Application Ready: Understand the application process’
• Monday 28 September — ‘Get Application Ready: Perfect your pitch’
• Tuesday 13 October — ‘Get Application Ready: Q&A session’

The application window for Cohort 11 will open on Monday 19 October.
