Imaging, innovation, impact

Scottish Health Innovations Ltd (SHIL) were delighted to join colleagues across the life sciences sector as Scotland’s imaging profile reached its pinnacle.

The opening of the Imaging Centre for Excellence took place on 29 March and is part of the expanding Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus.

The much-anticipated facility will host cutting-edge imaging clinical research facilities bringing together academic, NHS and industrial expertise in brain imaging and further strengthen Scotland’s position as a world leader in precision medicine.

ICE hosts a 7 Tesla MRI scanner, the first of its kind fully integrated within a clinical site in the UK, underpinned by clinical expertise in stroke, cardiovascular disease and brain imaging.

Robert Calderwood, Chief Executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: “The installation of this high-resolution scanner will provide the most advanced imaging facilities in the world on the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus.”
