InnoScot Health’s next free webinar will champion a vital initiative that is supporting the entrepreneurial activity of more and more NHS Scotland clinicians while laying the foundations for an increasingly innovation-driven health service

The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) supports staff learning and development, helping forward-thinking members of the workforce to successfully balance day to day demands while realising their innovation ambitions.

Formal NHS Scotland partner InnoScot Health is delighted to be supporting the programme and is encouraging staff who want to make a difference with fresh ideas, while furthering their own careers, to learn more about it.

Fresh applications to join CEP will be invited next month and InnoScot Health is keen to share further programme details prior to that with a webinar entitled ‘Accelerating and supporting the innovation ambitions of Scotland’s Clinical Entrepreneurs’, taking place on Wednesday 29 October.

The ‘lunch and learn’ session from 12-12.45pm will be a fantastic chance for attendees to learn more about how to develop their own entrepreneurship aspirations, hear first-hand experiences from guest speakers who have enhanced their careers through CEP, and get inspired by their example.

The webinar will be introduced and led by InnoScot Health’s Head of Innovation and Commercialisation, Gillian Henderson.

She will be joined by guest speaker Dr Angus Perry, founder of Glasgow-based GeneralPractice.AI who recently paid tribute to the role of CEP in his success after receiving £250,000 in fresh investment.

Dr Perry enrolled onto the programme’s Scottish cohort in 2023 with GeneralPractice.AI launched the same year, aiming “to enhance clinical care and place prevention at the heart of primary care”.

The GP told how CEP had given him “inspiration, knowledge and great contacts” on his journey to entrepreneurial success.

The webinar will be a great opportunity to:

  • Learn from those already forging a new path thanks to the programme
  • Understand how they can do likewise through the teachings provided by CEP itself and the Scottish organisations which support it
  • Discuss how best to take advantage of those multi-faceted resources

The InnoScot Health webinar series is open to all, regardless of role or organisation. Sessions are hosted online through Microsoft Teams, with joining instructions provided upon registration.

Gillian said: “With this webinar, we’re pleased to have the opportunity of highlighting the tremendous CEP opportunity that is open to Scotland’s healthcare workforce with applications opening soon.

“InnoScot Health is proud to be continuing its support for the programme — the largest entrepreneurial workforce development initiative of its kind — empowering individuals with bold ideas to improve patient care, health outcomes, and system efficiency.

“Our October webinar will provide an in-depth look at exactly how it works and, with personal insights from Angus, the twin benefits it offers to accelerate both NHS Scotland’s innovation goals and enhance career trajectory.

“Some may be unaware of the wealth of inspirational resources available to them through CEP when aiming to take an idea to the next level, not to mention the great support network offered here in Scotland.”

InnoScot Health is part of a collaborative group of organisations — alongside The Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI), NHS Education for Scotland (NES), Techscaler, Scottish Enterprise, and Chief Scientist Office (CSO) — supporting Scottish participation in CEP.

The webinar will be rounded off by an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers. Pre-submit your queries for our panel discussion to [email protected].
