InnoScot Health will be speaking at a gathering of Scotland’s health and MedTech community, sharing expertise and insights drawn from working closely with health and care entrepreneurs

The Techscaler Health & MedTech Innovation Summit — taking place on Tuesday 24 February at Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) from 12-5pm — will see InnoScot Health’s Head of Innovation Commercialisation, Gillian Henderson, joining the event’s partner panel.

The gathering is set to “bring together Scotland’s thriving health and MedTech startup ecosystem for an event designed to connect, inspire, and showcase innovation in the industry”.

It will place “a focus on founder-led insights and sector-specific challenges” offering a “unique platform to spotlight Scottish startups, share knowledge, and foster meaningful collaborations across the ecosystem”.

Gillian is part of a session commencing at 1.05pm, entitled ‘Working with the NHS — access, adoption and reality’.

She will be joined by others from NHS Forth Valley and the NHS North of Scotland Innovation Hub to share practical guidance on:

  • Navigating access
  • Running effective pilots
  • Generating meaningful evidence
  • Understanding real-world adoption pathways

Organisers say that the panel and Q&A places a focus on how “working with the NHS can be a huge opportunity for health tech founders, but it’s often slower and more complex than expected”.

The session will explore the belief that while having a great product can typically open doors, chances of success are heightened by understanding how the system is best navigated — for instance, identifying key decision makers and what kind of evidence actually matters to them.

Gillian will discuss how InnoScot Health is well-placed to support founders, while offering advice on topics such as the best time to engage with the NHS, understanding adoption pathways, and how to scale beyond one health board.

She said: “The summit will be an important opportunity for Scotland’s health and MedTech community to gather in the capital, offering a great platform to connect with founders, investors, and partners, while sharing ideas, and exploring fresh opportunities.

“Getting the right innovation into patients’ hands has never been more important, and being equipped to navigate the system is a massive asset for ambitious health and MedTech pioneers. I hope they find the panel discussion useful and informative.”

Innovation Commercialisation Manager Fiona Schaefer will also be in attendance at the event with a view to making new connections and highlighting the more expansive InnoScot Health support now available to start‑ups looking to accelerate their innovation ambitions.

InnoScot Health recently launched a new innovation call with the aim of catalysing collaborative ideas from fresh thinkers in NHS, industry, and academia.

It further aims to support those who already have early-stage solutions in progress — whether prototypes, supporting data, or initial coding for digital applications.

InnoScot Health believes the call represents a simple initiative for inspiring ambitious innovators to take a vital next step towards realising their ambitions and helping to create a healthier Scotland by tapping into expert assistance.
