Scotland’s Health Awards represent key platform for recognising most inspiring NHS innovators
InnoScot Health is urging submission of nominations to Scotland’s Health Awards — ‘a vital celebration of our most unsung heroes’
The formal NHS Scotland partner insists that the awards are a key platform for spotlighting the most outstanding, dedicated staff and innovators during what remains a challenging time for the health service.
InnoScot Health’s Head of Innovation Commercialisation, Gillian Henderson said: “It was fantastic to see the awards launched at the NHS Scotland Event in Glasgow last week.
“They are not only a brilliant way to reward the selfless hard work undertaken daily by outstanding teams and individuals across the country but also represent a vital celebration of our most unsung heroes.
“Of course, those who will eventually receive awards for their incredible efforts at a prestigious ceremony in November are only a fraction of those who deserve to be acknowledged. Nevertheless, those considered to be leaders in their field will get a chance to be recognised and to reflect on a job well done, no doubt inspiring others.”
She added: “We believe that the most important category for unlocking a better future in this still often challenging climate is ‘Innovation’. It is a vocation — one which provides exemplary, exciting possibilities and empowers the NHS workforce to make improvements where they are most needed.
“That is the environment in which issues can be turned into best practice for improved patient outcomes.”
Speaking last week at the NHS Scotland Event in Glasgow, Neil Gray, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, said that he was delighted to be announcing the launch of Scotland’s Health Awards, hosted by The Scotsman in partnership with the health service and Scottish Government.
He stated: “I’ve witnessed first-hand the incredible work that goes on across our health and care settings. That’s why I’m so pleased that these awards recognise frontline health and social care workers and also celebrate those who work so hard in support roles to ensure our services achieve the highest quality of care and patient experience.
“We’re still experiencing a challenging time across our health system, but with a clear focus on reform and renewal, it’s more important than ever to express our appreciation and showcase how amazing our workforce is in continuing to improve people’s lives, often under enormous pressure.
“Please take the time to nominate and say thank you on behalf of all of us.”
