Scotland’s would-be healthcare innovators urged to apply to programme before final deadline this week
A health service partner is urging NHS Scotland staff to grasp the opportunity this week of honing their skills to accelerate innovations and transform their career path
InnoScot Health insists the free NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) can turn inspiration into reality for those with fresh ideas, providing the assistance needed to balance other commitments — and with the application window set to close this Friday (28 November) at 4pm, it is time to act.
CEP has a strong track record of moulding Scotland-based healthcare innovators through its learning programme, representing a crucial step towards a more self-sustaining health service that is empowered to innovate from within.
Organisers believe that staff already have a strong base of skills and knowledge to draw upon, and CEP can supplement that further with the tools needed to develop and scale their ideas, learn commercial acumen, and identify the right collaborators to take their ambitions to the next level.
Those who may be working on their application to CEP can join a final drop-in session this Friday from 1-2pm where they can ask any last-minute questions and receive the guidance they need. It is informal and will not be recorded.
InnoScot Health says the programme’s tailored learnings and readymade network of collaborators are now poised to inspire a new Scottish cohort of innovators-in-waiting thanks to dedicated mentoring and education.
InnoScot Health’s Head of Innovation Commercialisation, Gillian Henderson said: “There is so much to gain from CEP — from not only being handed the capability to bring your ideas to life, but also seeing your career trajectory accelerated, while of course benefitting the patients you care for and improving system efficiency.
“Those are extremely laudable ambitions, but to take advantage and become one of the country’s healthcare pioneers and problem solvers, you must meet this week’s deadline for applications.
“Please do apply, and if experiencing any hurdles in doing so, join the final drop-in session.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this year’s application round so far.”
InnoScot Health is part of a collaborative group of organisations — alongside The Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI), NHS Education for Scotland (NES), Techscaler, Scottish Enterprise, and Chief Scientist Office (CSO) — supporting Scottish participation.
CEP is the biggest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind. Started in 2016, it is open to both clinical and non-clinical NHS staff — including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, managers, and support staff.
Successful applicants start on the programme each spring following a ‘Big Pitch and Welcome Event’.
