Ambicare Health, an early spin-out company from Scottish Health Innovations Limited (SHIL), has appeared on The Customer is Always Right. The BBC show provides entrepreneurs with insightful feedback from real consumers who test their product and provide honest evaluation of the product design, price, and results of use.

The flagship Lustre Pure Light™ product from Ambicare Health was tested. This wireless wearable product uses light therapy to treat acne, providing an alternative to drugs and hospital visits. The patented platform technology allows the patient to wear the light delivery device in daily use (approx. 20mins) - enhancing convenience and delivering improved end results through consistency of light delivery to the skin.

Executive Chairman Dr Neil MacGilp features on the show providing background to the product and the desire to provide a safe solution for those who suffer with acne, highlighting that troubled skin can have a huge impact on a person’s self-esteem.

This product forms part of a portfolio of wearable light sources for medical and consumer healthcare applications as the result of pioneering work undertaken at the University of St Andrews and Ninewells Hospital (Dundee) Department of Dermatology.

Graham Watson, Executive Chairman at Scottish Health Innovations Ltd comments: “Ambicare Health has made substantial progress in the development and commercialisation of proprietary, wearable LED-based devices for treating a range of skin conditions and diseases.

“It is great to see the Lustre Pure Light™ featured on BBC – consumer feedback is always essential when developing innovative new products, and it is positive to see an NHS supported idea developed into a commercial product that can improve patient experience of acne treatment.”

The entire range of LUSTRE products are CE certified, indicating conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). LUSTRE has also been awarded clearance by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the over-the-counter sale of its LUSTRE ClearSkin system for the treatment of mild to moderate acne, spots and pimples.
