A Scottish innovation supported by the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) has been named the best chronic disease management and prevention platform for diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and obesity by a government-approved compliance portal

MyWay Digital Health — a University of Dundee spinout — was awarded a near perfect score of 95% in the Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Apps (ORCHA) Baseline Review, an “incredible” performance rating, it reported.

The score, ORCHA said, reflects “a product that takes clinical safety, data protection and usability seriously, and one that healthcare professionals and patients can trust”.

ORCHA works with government bodies, national health systems, and local councils globally — including the NHS — to review, accredit, and supply safe digital health apps.

MyWay Digital Health, co-founder and diabetes specialist Dr Debbie Wake said she was “so proud to achieve this” and paid tribute to her team.

The company is transforming how people monitor and manage diabetes through smart, connected technology. It looks beyond sugar levels to encompass blood pressure, cholesterol, mental health and lifestyle, while also helping to deliver significant cost savings to the health service.

Debbie is the company’s CEO and clinical lead for NHS Scotland's diabetes platform MyDiabetesMyWay — which lets users view their diabetes health records, track results, and access simple education courses and advice — and she is a prominent Scottish alumnus of the CEP initiative.

In June this year, Debbie pitched at CEP's milestone 10th Anniversary Big Pitch event in London, and she continues to advocate participation in the biggest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind which is open to both clinical and non-clinical NHS staff.

InnoScot Health is part of a collaborative group of organisations supporting Scottish participation in CEP and believes the programme’s tailored learnings and readymade network of collaborators have helped to underpin the success of MyWay Digital Health, which received £3m in investment last year.
