InnoScot Health’s next webinar will focus on NHS Scotland entrepreneurs – forward-thinking members of the workforce who are successfully balancing day to day demands while realising their innovation ambitions

The free to join session will be a fantastic chance for attendees to learn more about how to develop their own entrepreneurship aspirations, hear first-hand experiences from guest speakers, and be inspired to get involved in driving forward healthcare innovation.

The webinar offers an opportunity for NHS Scotland partner InnoScot Health to discuss how more progressive-minded workforce innovators can be inspired to replicate the example of others.

Entitled Empowering healthcare professionals to transform services through innovation, the webinar session takes place from 12 until 12.45pm on Wednesday 27 September.

It will be introduced and led by InnoScot Health’s Head of Project Management Gillian Henderson and Project Manager Paula Sweeten.

They will be joined by guest speaker Dr Debbie Wake, CEO and Chief Medical Officer at My Way Digital Health (MWDH).

Debbie is a qualified consultant diabetologist and senior academic (University of Edinburgh – MBChB (Hons), BSc, PhD, Clin Ed Dip), a 2017–18 NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellow and one of nine 2019 UK Women in Innovation award winners. She is a national leader in diabetes artificial intelligence (AI) and an international leader in diabetes education. Previously, she was a health columnist for a national UK newspaper and TV doctor/presenter for STV.

She has trained in business development through the Boston MIT Entrepreneurship programme, the Unlocking Ambition and Converge Challenge initiatives, and the University of Edinburgh AI Accelerator and has delivered more than £5m in innovation funding.

Debbie has led MWDH since 2017, delivering a high-growth globally operating company with a best-in-class diabetes platform.

Joining Dr Debbie Wake will be Dr Tamsin Holland Brown, founder of Hear Glue Ear, paediatrician and Co clinical Lead for the CEP.

Tamsin specialises in children who are deaf. This led her to focus on children with temporary hearing loss due to glue ear – a common condition, where fluid builds up behind the ear drum, causing temporary deafness in young children.

She created an affordable medical device to improve hearing and an app to improve childhood developmental skills and self-management of glue ear between appointments or when operations are unavailable.

Also speaking is Suzanne Graham, Programme Lead for Innovation Collaboration in the Chief Scientist Office (CSO) Innovation Team, Scottish Government.

She will be providing an overview of the CSO Innovation Academic Fellowship scheme.
