Free webinar to detail health innovation partner’s evolving model for closer ‘triple helix’ working
A key partner in realising healthcare innovation ambitions for Scotland will be offering a deep dive into its evolving model of service delivery during a free webinar next month
On Wednesday 11 February, InnoScot Health will discuss its phased transition from NHS Scotland partner to a more expansive consultancy offering which will more closely engage industry and academia, bringing Scotland’s ‘triple helix’ closer together.
Since 2002, InnoScot Health has supported NHS Scotland Boards by protecting, managing, and commercialising the intellectual property in innovative ideas.
It has also continued to provide a range of supplementary services including idea evaluation, medical device regulatory support, funding and investment, project development, and commercialisation.
That unique expertise has helped to translate many innovative ideas into tangible health benefits, generate income for the NHS, and support broader efforts to improve healthcare services.
As innovation and the broader healthcare landscape continues to change, so do the underpinning structures, systems, and services — and InnoScot Health is entering a new phase which aligns with that shift.
The organisation will be going through a managed transition period to ensure continuity of access to advice, expertise, and support in the short-term before becoming entirely self-sustaining as of 1 April 2027.
The webinar — entitled 'The evolving face of healthcare innovation — how InnoScot Health is expanding its reach' — takes place from 12-12.45pm and will be presented by Head of Innovation, Robert Rea, and Head of Innovation Commercialisation, Gillian Henderson.
At the webinar, InnoScot Health will also be launching a new call inviting innovators across Scotland, including NHS staff, SMEs, academic groups, and industry partners, to submit concepts that have the potential to significantly benefit NHS Scotland. More details will be revealed during the session.
Robert said: “For over 23 years, InnoScot Health has been a catalyst for change, and we remain committed to working with health and social care innovators across Scotland, building on our reputation as a trusted adviser and proven delivery partner.
“We see this new phase as an opportunity to expand our reach, supporting a more collaborative approach to health and social care innovation.
“We will be leveraging our deep expertise to form stronger multi-disciplinary connections across NHS, industry, and academia – of a kind that positively impacts patient outcomes, heightens efficiency, and enhances Scotland’s wider growth ambitions.”
Gillian added: “Fundamentally, amid challenges on public finances, InnoScot Health will continue to sit at the heart of the innovation ecosystem, encouraging more accessible and equitable health and social care, but with an enlarged focus that increasingly helps to get great ideas to market.
“We hope you can join us on Wednesday 11 to learn more and look forward to explaining our innovation call further.”
