Innovation calls and challenges aimed at drawing out and inspiring fresh ideas to support NHS Scotland will be the topic of InnoScot Health’s next webinar later this month

The NHS partner’s third informative webinar in an ongoing series will be taking place from 12 until 12.45pm on Wednesday 26 April, entitled Innovation calls and challenges to support NHS Scotland.

The free to join session will be a fantastic opportunity for attendees to learn about themed calls and Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) challenges happening both now and in the near future.

The session will be introduced and led by Head of Innovation Dr Robert Rea and Innovation Manager Leigh Mair who will discuss InnoScot Health’s themed calls which target specific areas of need, while inspiring new thinking and fresh approaches, as well as offering a range of expertise and support to innovators.

They will be joined by Dr Neil Patel, Clinical Lead at the West of Scotland Innovation Hub and Consultant Neonatologist at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children who will talk about, and lend his insights, on women’s and children’s health and the Scottish Health and Industry Partnership Group (SHIP) challenges in this area. There is also set to be a further guest speaker announced in due course.

Leigh said: “Our third webinar focuses on the significant differences that can be made to patient outcomes in important areas through ground-breaking ideas from NHS Scotland staff.

“Our themed calls target specific priority areas across health and social care, helping the NHS to adapt and evolve. The aim is to inspire bespoke solutions to everyday issues from the people who understand them best.

“Once fresh ideas are submitted through our fast, easy to navigate channels, they can receive up to £25k of initial seed funding, regulatory support, project management, and the extensive innovation expertise of the InnoScot Health team.

“The result can be deployment back into the NHS, resulting in improved patient outcomes, better staff processes, and a more efficient, cost-effective health service.

“We look forward to sharing more with our webinar attendees, including what our next innovation call will be.”

Neil said: “I’m grateful to have the opportunity of joining this webinar and speaking about SHIP’s exciting innovation challenge focused on Women’s and Children’s Health.

“The fundamental aim of the challenges is to identify, connect with, and support industry partners to work with clinical teams and develop innovative, technology-based solutions, in turn overcoming challenges and improving patients’ lives.

“I am hoping that the webinar platform will not only help to outline and simplify the process for newcomers, but also encourage further cutting edge thinking for the Women’s and Children’s Health challenge which is of particular interest to myself.”

The session will be rounded off by an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers. Pre submit your queries for our panel discussion to [email protected].
